A chant at Friends of Palestine rallies that I am prepared to join in with is, "ISRAEL/USA, HOW MANY KIDS DID YOU KILL TODAY?" That has been chorused at every protest I've participated in since early 2024, here in Perth, Western Australia. It is way too simplistic I know after reading your excellent essay but it is easy to remember and shout out. Thank you for your work.
It is a disgrace that our spineless government still will not sanction Israel for its atrocities and that we seem hell-bent on following USA war mongering with AUKUS and growing US military presence in Darwin, Exmouth, Garden Island and soon NSW I believe. Despair hovers over me.
"How many kids did you kill today?" I understand what you mean when you say it sounds too simplistic since the degree of destruction occurs on every level, however many have determined that children are purposed targeted by Israel, and on multiple levels. Children are perceived as innocents, vulnerable, and with years of life ahead and will become a link to a past, a past that was brutal and barbaric, a history that I'm sure Israel will love to erase and no one demanding in the future a right of return.
True that the killing of children is no longer covered as it once was and where detailed accounts of the killings were provided. However the memories of those stories are still very fresh in my mind. The pictures, the stories never leave me, like the mother who rocked her dead baby in her arms as if she could comfort it in it's death. The targeted killing of innocents conveys more then anything the barbarism that defines Israel for me. Also, to hell with all our elected officials, presidents included, who provided Israel support to carry out the destruction of a people, which continues and can only get worse.

So true and well described all that, which is indescribable.
But why try ‘pretzel’ it all into an academe new-speech word?
No! IMO there is no such a thing as “unchild” child.
Same like new-speech: de/colonize, easy just wipe it away…
above all do not mention an agency at play…
