It is an interesting history, but hasn't it been overtaken by events, Professor? Whatever the motivations and degrees of knowledge which were present at the recent onset of all of this chaos, hasn't the current situation demonstrated, since, the far greater breadth and depth of the problem? Putin and Russia forever have been pushing for expansion westward, their "warmwater ports" answered by our "Iron Curtain" and other strategies. But now it seems issues are, and maybe always have been, far greater: a European Empire with its own army, an American Empire ditto, and an Indian, and a Chinese, and... It all seems "Guns of August", a return to the late 19th century, which brought us the dreadful cataclysm designed to "end war", but didn't. Events, and history, are moving rapidly.
