Journalism in the age of the internet seems to often include loads of verbiage to at least sound credible in the ether where opinions are far ranging and attention spans are short.

One thing about living at this time in a country that chooses to reduce history to high school textbooks is that a lot of the formerly misled, apolitical Americans who once thought they lived in a good country are uncovering troves of evidence to the contrary.

Sovereignty is a word that now comes up often, whereas in the U.S. it was never used a little bit in the lapdog media. Maybe a little bit in classrooms.

Some of the perspectives represented in this article appear to have been honed over years of practice. The Russian invasion of Ukraine was wrong and illegal, and the regime change in Ukraine in 2014 was a little civil unrest that happened to turn out bad for Russian sovereignty, and did end Ukraine’s fragile sovereignty.

I loathe lawyerly equivocation to score argument points. So indicting Russian aggression, after ignoring multiple documented attempts to find diplomatic solutions to regional security concerns is disingenuous and calculated.

The whole proxy war was conducted with resolute American contempt for the optics. From February of 2022, no politician or western patriot could discuss the war without the “unprovoked” modifier.

And this gets to the heart of the matter. The Ukrainians have been played by the U.S. and the British, and one hopes that history will reflect the callous ease with which comfortable westerners wore blinders as they pledged more support for their trusted cokehead.

For Americans trying to make sense of this appetite for war and taking its spoils, usually by force, this all demands a re-examination of the original Cold War. Children weaned on the evils of communism and the piety of their own people, now can learn that the Cold War was America’s war against communism, socialism, anti-capitalism and any country too weak to defend itself. That should be easy enough to swallow today when the ruling elites can abandon any pretense about honor or values. It’s bald face power seeking and exercising against humanity at home and abroad.

So where we sit today is no accident of history or circumstance.

Russia was badly damaged in WWII, and it is still in western crosshairs today, but today Russia has allies and history on its side, and the Americans are still calculating how to get more by ill-gotten means.

Ukraine was cavalierly destroyed when it was couped, and Russia is fighting to avoid Ukraine’s fate. And one consequence of this needless bloodshed has been the realization that the international systems of law and judicial oversight have already proven to be as hollow as American exceptionalism.

Isn't it interesting how even today legacy media refuses to admit that the war in Ukraine is truly a proxy war. Everyone knows it. It's like Thanksgiving with the gay uncle and his "roommate". *sigh

I think the total erasure of journalism from the legacy media happened while people were living and not looking. It is now, without question, a joke that isn’t funny.

Has any talking head cited or commented on the carousel of reasons for why attacking Iran was necessary? 1) They’re terrorists (laughable coming from the U.S. which is propping up the Zionist occupation of Palestine.) 2) They want a nuclear weapon (more laughable given they can erase the Zionists who already have a nuclear weapon.) 3) They have closed the Strait of Hormuz (ha ha ha ha!)

That the US has gotten away for so long in acting the terrorist while calling everyone else a "terrorist". That the US built Al Qaeda and then the splinter groups all in the vein in arming "the enemy of our enemy." I place the true crumble of journalism in rapid decline from when CNN covered Iraq I and started with the "embedded journalists" and multi-paged inserts that read as a the Sears and Roebuck of arms sales. I was working in Bolivia when that "war" kicked off and the selling of US imperial "strength" was sold in this manner whilst the US had covert operations in the country set to remove coca production. Not a word of this was printed in US newspapers, much less very little on the range of Contra operations further north.

So Iran comes as no surprise given our operations against this country for decades (again unremarked, unreported in US media). I am still waiting for any of the traditional broadsheets to report on Israel's nuclear weapons in the Negev Desert.

I’m old enough to remember how the Iranian hostage “crisis” gave the zombie Ted Koppel his own TV show to explain to the American public what this drama portended for the dupes who had never heard of how the shah was an MI6/CIA plant.

Nightline was a nightly half hour (or longer) program that existed to promote right wing extremist views. One of Koppel’s regular guests was Roy Kohn, a known hate monger and crooked lawyer.

I think it’s a sign of progress that Kohn would have much less visibility today, with an internet that is informing people as insidiously as the corporate elites pumped them with lies.

I think the fate of the MSM is tied to the Zionists who own it. The western billionaires are so incestuous socially, that they’ll be extinct before they know anything’s happening. Change is afoot, and the “alternative media” are the only witnesses.
