The more ignorant gangster in the hood, the one who likes little girls and videos of explosions, who wants to steal oil, lifes and energy, the one who has nuclear bombs at his finger points, the one who has the language of an uneducated boy of 9 years (nice-cute-tough-obliterate-mostwonderful) and is obsesses with playing golf and make money ... just this guy is the one deciding wars, sanctions, invasions, assasinations and now on top of that, about the continuing creation of an independent and self-learning Frankenstein who has big chances to kill us all (because AI is close to psychopathy: there are no human empathy there to take any decision ... so similar to the top leaders of the west, by the way) ...? This is not Normality: it is the declaration of psychosis at states level, and all people in the world, we all, must take action FOR SURVIVAL (in any sense of the word).
I see the Anthropic IPO has mysteriously increased to $2 trillion. I hope so. I could do with a laugh, and a company that's barely turned a profit raking in that much cash strikes me as being fairly hilarious.
Overall I'm inclined to think that much of this is a ramp. Both OpenAI and Anthropic are facing (delayed) IPOs. A government backstop of cash would be very useful. Trump is both greedy and gullible enough to pony up. Fear is a good motivator.
As to the huggingface nonsense: Agents are not sentient beings, but they can walk through security doors that have been left open. A lot of the panic about AI destroying us ignores the fact that this is an environment in which everything is programmed by humans.
Humanising Agents is done, usually by applying terms that are commonly used for human intent to things that have no intent, only commands. For the most part there is very little these systems can do that hasn't been explicitly or tacitly allowed. Some of this is piss-poor security, some of it is intentional. I've worked in software for most of my life and most of this stuff is just bullshit.
IMHO the Anthropic guy that 'resigned' because 'AI will kill humanity' (without giving a coherent explanation of how that would come about) is a plant or a grifter. Lots of money to be made these days in AI fear and loathing.
Just wondering if you have read "If any one builds it, everyone dies"......
I'm half way thru.... I'm not the smartest guy in a room but this book has shown me that what they (AI grower's) are creating is not predictable, it's totally chance, repetitions and directed.
It is complex, precise, but certainly not predictable.
Seen from the other side of the Atlantic (or is it Donald’s Ocean now), it seems like the United States of idiots. Where’s your Checks and Balances? The greatest country in the world? No way!!!
God's description of tyrants in the Quran doesn't only expose their actions; it describes the gradual distortion of their perception. It describes what tyranny eventually does to the tyrant: arrogance, blindness, and an increasing inability to recognize reality. Subhan'Allah.

Frightening
1984 is within reach and the rulers will not let any5thing get in their way.

China has already won this race. But actually it wants an open and relatively free sysstem available to all for the good of all.
LLMs are not AI and certainly not AGI and never will be.
This is two companies trying to hype up their chances of raising one last mountain of money before the SHTF. Ditto Trump who has skin in the game.
